A scientific report by veterinarian Lauren DeRock DVM, Dean Clark DC and Homer Nazeran PhD investigated IceWave patches in horses with musculoskeletal pain.
The study used veterinary acupuncture palpation and infrared thermal imaging to assess changes before and after patch application.
The researchers reported a highly significant reduction in veterinarian-assessed pain scores following IceWave patch application. Thermal imaging was also used to investigate temperature changes in affected areas.
The research was published in the Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, Volume 30, No. 1, 2011, pages 17–26.

AcuLife Patches Produce Pain Relief in Horses
Further work involving Lauren DeRock DVM, Dean Clark DC, Chuck Davis PhD and Homer Nazeran PhD investigated AcuLife patches (also IceWave) in horses.
The study evaluated horses using acupuncture palpation and infrared thermal imaging and compared active patches with placebo patches.
